Southern Chocolate Cake Recipe

Make sure to bump your baking pan full of cake batter on the counter a couple of times before you bake it, so that you get all the air bubbles out for a smooth chocolate cake.

1 tsp
1/4 tsp
1 cup
1/3 cup

1/2 cup
1 1/2 tsp
All-purpose flour
Sugar
Baking soda
Salt
Butter
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Eggs
Buttermilk or sour milk
Vanilla

Oven Temp ~ 350°
Recipe Bake Time ~ 35 minutes
Pan Type ~ 9" x 13" pan


Preheat Oven, grease pan.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
In a medium saucepan combine butter, cocoa, and water.
Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
With an electric mixer, on medium speed, beat chocolate mixture into the dry mixture until thoroughly blended.
Add eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla.
Beat for 1 minute, pour batter into the prepared pan.
Place southern chocolate cake in oven to bake for suggested time or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
